Jukka-Pekka Peltoniemi aloitti trumpetinsoiton Rovaniemellä, Lapin musiikkiopistossa jatkaen opintojaan Oulun konservatoriossa Jarmo Väärän oppilaana. Musiikin maisteriksi hän valmistui Sibelius-Akatemiasta vuonna 2004, opettajinaan Ari Heinonen sekä Pasi Pirinen.
Peltoniemi on täydentänyt opintojaan Tukholman kuninkaallisessa musiikkikorkeakoulussa Mark Schrellon oppilaana sekä useilla kansainvälisillä mestarikursseilla. Peltoniemi on toiminut vuodesta 2008 Oulu Sinfoniassa trumpetin varaäänenjohtajana sekä äänenjohtajana. Aiemmin hän on työskennellyt mm. Sinfonia Lahdessa sekä Suomen Kansallisoopperan vuorottelevana soolotrumpetistina.
Opettajana hän on toiminut Keski-Pohjanmaan konservatoriossa sekä Oulun konservatorion pop-jazz osastolla.
Klassisen musiikin ohella kevyt musiikki kuuluu hänen ohjelmistoonsa, mm. Oulu All Star Big Bandin lead-trumpetistina sekä oman bändinsä, Z Bakers quartetin riveissä. Peltoniemi on esiintynyt useiden orkestereiden solistina, mm. Keski-Pohjanmaan Kamariorkesterin, Lapin Kamariorkesterin sekä viimeksi Oulu Sinfonian solistina, soittaen Jaakko Kuusiston trumpettikonserton suomen ensiesityksen vuonna 2018.
Jukka-Pekka Peltoniemi started playing the trumpet in Rovaniemi, Lapland Music College, continuing his studies at the Oulu Conservatory as a student of Jarmo Väärä. He graduated with a master’s degree in music from the Sibelius Academy in 2004, where his teachers included Ari Heinonen and Pasi Pirinen.
Peltoniemi has completed his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm as a student of Mark Schrello and with several international master classes. Since 2008, Peltoniemi has worked at the Oulu Symphony as the trumpet vice section leader and the trumpet section leader. He has previously worked, for example, at the Lahti Symphony and as an alternating solo trumpet player at the Finnish National Opera.
He has worked as a teacher at the Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory and in the pop jazz department of the Oulu Conservatory.
In addition to classical music, pop music is part of his repertoire, for example as the lead trumpet player of the Oulu All Star Big Band and in the ranks of his own band, the Z Bakers Quartet.Peltoniemi has performed as a soloist with several orchestras, for example as a soloist with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and most recently the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, playing the Finnish premiere of Jaakko Kuusisto’s trumpet concerto in 2018.
